One quarter of the ward that seals the hidden court beneath Amon Sûl. The break is not clean: it was struck apart, and each piece was given to a different watch of the garrison so that no one of them could open the door alone. It is far heavier than a shard of iron this size has any right to be. Four such wards, laid together in the old oven below and woken by the lever beside it, will make a key again.
